The arrival of May 21 added as the peak season day-SAS reintroduced flights from Copenhagen to Seattle. That’s one of the numerous transatlantic US routes in May month. The carrier served Seattle for many years until 2009
The precise reach of SAS’s renewed interest in Seattle was mainly by the carrier joining SkyTeam in Sept 2024. This was on the same side, followed by SAS’s Atlanta launch last year between Minneapolis and Copenhagen on May 22nd, 2025.

Recently, SAS has served Copenhagen to Seattle over five times weekly on the 300-seat Airbus A350-900. The airline flagship within the highest capacity equipment. The last departure over the season will be on October 24th within certain northern airlines-SAS switching on winter schedules based on IATA slot sessions.
Multiple star alliance routes remain in operation
Respective to the routes Europe in April 2024, SAS’s CEO—Anko van der Werff-airline, would be increasingly dismantling its Star-driven network. It's within both, including North America; no timeframe was provided.
“Werff stated that Atlanta would eventually replace Chicago, while JFK would replace Newark. Of course, Chicago is a huge city in itself, so it is unclear if it will exit that market entirely. SAS ceased Stockholm-Chicago service in 2023.”
The above-mentioned three routes are still served. Meanwhile, the absence of SAS returned to New York JFK in 2023. Flights, however, initially increased- Copenhagen hub—while Oslo flights materialized on March 30th, 2025. To date, it's still unknown when exactly SAS plans to cease flying to Newark. This may be influenced by JKF’s lack of slots—especially during peak times. Still, it is NYC's primary gateway and Delta's sixth-busiest hub by movement.
SAS Implemented US route cuts in 2023
Initially, the airlines served Aalborg to Newark and Gothenburg to Newark—that’s between April and October 2023. The carrier gets on flights thrice a week on the A321LR. It took from Oslo to Miami—in March 2023, later to Stockholm to Chicago until October 2023.
Despite ending after one season, Werff said they "weren't a failure." He said that a key problem was how revenue was shared among the different partners, while the schedule, arriving in Newark late at night, meant that the routes revolved around point-to-point traffic, not onward connectivity. Expect similar services in the future to have a very different schedule.
